Principal
Dear Fairview community,
We have passed the half-way mark of term and have had some fantastic learning experiences over the past few weeks.
Tomorrow during our Student Free Moderation Day our teaching staff will be at Molesworth Primary School working with teachers across the Derwent Valley to discuss work samples of students and ensure that standards are similar across the board. Our teacher assistants will be also having professional development at school. Please be aware our office will not be open on Friday 7th June.
One of the things that always fills me with pride is when our school comes together in events such as our Cross Country Carnival. The participation and demonstration of our values in supporting each other was evident on this day. Yesterday our students represented Fairview at the interschool cross country carnival and we had some great results but more importantly the feedback from all that were there was that these students represented our school in a great light.
Today we conclude our Fire Education lessons and it has been great to see the learning that has occurred around safe practices and things we can do to ensure we are looking after ourselves and families. It has been 30 years of Fire Education at Fairview Primary and I wish to sincerely thank Firefighter Drew and his colleagues for the work they have done in the school over time.
Finally, it has been great to see our older students in their leavers and leaders shirts over the last few weeks.
I am looking forward to a nice long weekend and an enjoyable remainder of the term.
David Webster

Cross Country
SPSSA Champions Carnival
On Thursday, a group of students went to Bayview Secondary College to compete in the SPSSA Interschool Cross Country. 32 runners from grades 3-6 competed on the course which ranged from 2km to 2.6k.
All the runners from Fairview showed great resilience and determination. It was a longer course than our school cross country, so well done to everyone who took part. Each student represented the school excellently and our school values were on display throughout the day.
Prep 1 Judges
Prep/1 Judges enjoyed participating in the National Simultaneous Storytime last month. One of the activities we did in response to the text "Bowerbird Blues", involved students choosing their favourite colour and make their own collection.
3/4 Karsznia
A warm hello to everyone from 3/4K,
Last week we had an awesome opportunity to experience first-hand how life cycles as well as food chains and adaptations work in nature during our excursion to waterworks reserve.
A big thanks to our amazing guides Emily and Kate for teaching us so many cool things.
Thanks,
Mr Karsznia
5/6 Fitz
Students from 5/6F did amazing portraits of someone they look up to.
Art
Grades 3-6 have been looking at abstract art.
Abstracts depict the feelings, colours and textures of the scene without becoming realistic.
The students produced these abstracts based on Australian landscapes.
Many of these wonderful artworks are on display in our front office.
School Association
Our School Association Committee is a small but hard-working group who give up their own time to fundraise for the school and attend meetings to have a say and learn about important decisions made by the school.
2023-2024 funds were raised to purchase new grandstand seating.
This year our focus is on purchasing more permanent outdoor activities for students and improving the outer look of the school. The School Association have wonderful ideas which takes a lot of planning and time. If you think you would like to help in any way, please contact the school. The only way these events can go ahead is with the extra help of parents and carers. We understand not all parents and carers can offer their time so this is where you can help by supporting the fundraising activity and encouraging others to do the same.
Upcoming events we hope to be running are: Hotdog Day, Crazy Hair day, Father’s day stall, Footy Colours day, Colour run, Halloween Disco, Christmas Raffle
Our next meeting will be held on Wednesday June 19th at 3:15pm. All are welcome to attend.
