Newsletter -4 April 2024
From The Assistant Principal
In our end of term newsletter, I wanted to celebrate a very successful term. Students have had a range of recent achievements including finishing first in the interschool Athletics Carnival. The way the school has been represented by our students at these events has been exceptional. Community members and others regularly comment on how Fairview students show strong values of respect, fair play and support through their actions and words. I am excited about further opportunities that are coming up over the next term including our involvement with the University of Tasmania through the Children’s University program.
Something that is less visible but extremely important is the engagement in learning that is happening every day in classrooms. Nothing makes me feel happier than a student that comes to me with a smile on their face because they have achieved a learning goal, progressed in their reading, or asking me a probing question around a topic that they have covered in class because it has engaged them so much they wish to explore it further. I am fortunate to experience this every day at Fairview.
Finally, thank you to all that have supported the school over the term, including all those that have supported our School Association Bake Sale, Easter Raffle and other fundraising activities.
Please have a safe and restful holiday break. I look forward to seeing students and parents smiling faces when they return on Monday 29th April.

5/6 Bradshaw
In 5/6 Bradshaw for our HASS Inquiry, we have been looking at the key institutions of Australia's system of government. This includes building our understanding of the roles and responsibilities of the three levels of government, key figures and influences that shapes our democracy.
We have investigated the role the Governor General plays through to the responsibilities of Local Government. Recently we have consolidated our research skills by investigating the key features of the Derwent Valley Council with many students surprised by how large the area is, that the local council looks after.
3/4 Rose
3/4 Rose have been working on what makes a number odd or even, so we created odd and even monsters to display our learning in the classroom.
2 Thornton
In Grade 2 Thornton this term we have been looking at recycling and re-using. Recently we read the book Elmer, which is about a patchwork elephant. We then decided to re-use milk cartons that students have been bringing in to class to make our very own Elmer.
We are still in the process adding the finishing touches but please enjoy some of our work.
