From The Principal
Dear Fairview community,
As the term draws to a close, it is a great opportunity to reflect on a really positive term. The learning experiences that I have seen occurring in classrooms have been a real testament to the students, teachers, and family efforts to achieve growth and success for all students. It was great to see so many parents engage with our 'open classroom' afternoons. Ongoing feedback regarding how students are progressing is part of the new way of 'reporting', and families will see more and more examples of this as time progresses.
I have loved seeing students engage in the pilot 'enrichment' program that has started this term, including art, food, garden, and sports, to name just a few of the offerings. Having the opportunity for students to pick an area of interest and work with different adults and students from across the school has had many positive benefits.
Our senior students have been demonstrating their leadership skills in many ways, and those who have participated in the Winter Sports roster have been fantastic ambassadors for the school, consistently showcasing our STAR values.
Thank you again to the School Association, the grade 5/6 leaders, and members of our community for their fundraising efforts throughout the term. It is not just the activities or funds raised that make these events great, but the opportunity to build community and connect with one another.
Over the next week, we have some exciting events, including our School Association Disco on Thursday and Footy (sports) Colours Day on Friday, which will feature a range of sports-related activities to wrap up the term.
Please keep an eye out for our upcoming events in term 4, including swimming and water safety for grades 3-5 and some grade 6s starting on the first Wednesday back (18th October).
I look forward to seeing you next week and wish you all a relaxing and safe holiday period.
David Webster

5/6 Bradshaw
In 5/6 Bradshaw we have been investigating what electricity is, including the role of circuit components, their importance and the flow of electricity insulators and conductors. We have been using both simple circuit packs and online circuit creation to test the built models.
Hats on for term 4
In term 1 all students were given a free school hat. As the weather is warming up, the UV and temperatures are rising. In term 4 it is compulsory for all students to wear their school hat while outside for play or PE activities. New students will be given a hat at the beginning of term 4. If your child has lost their hat and you would like to purchase another, please contact the office. Cost is $15

School Association
The School Association has been raising funds to assist the school in purchasing a new grandstand to replace the old damaged one. Thank you to all the wonderful families for supporting our raffles, mothers day and fathers day stalls and Disco. Our next big fundraiser is the Christmas Raffle. Every year this gets bigger and better. Lets make 2023 the best one ever. If you have a business please consider making a donation of goods or a voucher. In turn we will thank you through our social media channels.
Some of the things discussed at our last meeting- fundraising, parent volunteers, school photos, unifroms, parking, playground, schoolzine, assembly, star awards, athletics carnival, swimming, school resources, enrichment program.
Our next and final meeting for 2023 will be held on Wednesday November 15th at 3:15pm. Everyone is welcome. If you are not a committee member you can come along as an observer. Unfortunatly we do not provide childcare but you can tag team with another parent.
BBQ and Bake Sale 14th October
On Saturday the 14th of October the Australian Electoral Commission are holding a Referendum where Fairview Primary School is a designated polling location. The School Association will be holding a Sausage sizzle and a Bake sale on this day from 10am - 2pm.
Cash and Eftpos available.
All proceeds will go towards raising money for a new grandstand.
Art with Mrs Maddock
So far 112 randomly chosen landscapes from our 3/4 and 5/6 classes have been displayed each week in our office/foyer gallery. We still have several weeks worth to go. Have you seen them yet? The students spent 12 weeks painting backgrounds, learning sponging and different brushing techniques for the details and studying light and shade and drawing rocks. Their efforts paid off with an amazing display this term, I am so proud of their pieces. - Ms Maddock.
Art with grade 2
Grade 2 recycled their colour painting exercise sheets into collaborative pieces modelled on Matisse's Cut Outs.

Art with Preps and grade 1
Spring has arrived in the art room!
Prep Goss/Hammer, P/1 Judges and 1 Best/Thornton started out collaging wintery bare trees. Then they burst into bloom in the art room.
