Newsletter - 8th May 2023
From The Principal
Dear Fairview Community,
Welcome back to term 2, although the weather has turned and most of the beautiful leaves have fallen from the trees we have had a very positive start to the term.
We have a number of exciting programs and opportunities occurring across the term, with our Mother’s Day school association fundraising stall in coming days, cross country carnival on Monday 15th May, and ‘growing up program’ from weeks 5-7. The term culminates in mid-year reporting and parent teacher interviews.
I have been excited to see and hear about the progress that our students have been making with their learning in class, especially with their reading goals. All of our staff have been working really diligently and collaboratively to support student outcomes, and although only at the beginning of term 2, we have already seen great progress.
It is really important to maintain our positive attendance rates and ensure our students attend as many days per week as possible. Please see the attendance article in this newsletter regarding processes for absences.
I look forward to a great term.

Attendance Matters
At Fairview Primary School we are focusing on students attendance. We know that children need to be consistently at school to ensure they are not only building on their learning but continuing with their social friendships. Even one day off can make a difference to these elements.
If you are having trouble getting your child to school, please contact the school and we will put in place whatever supports we need to ensure you and your child are supported in making attendance count.
If your child is absent or going to be late, please phone the school or send the absence and reason through the SZapp. You can also use the SZapp notify the office of future absences due to a full day off for appointments or if you need to pick up your child early.
Thank you to parents and carers who have embraced the use of Schoolzine and the SZapp. Sending though absences through the SZapp is quick and convenient.

School Association and Mothers Day Stall
We have an opening for a parent member for the School Association. Below you will see the link to the parent nomination form. We do have printed copies here at the office if you prefer.
We have not received any Community Nominations and therefore still have 2 places available. For more information please contact the school or see the link below to fill out the form.
Remember that all parents and carers are welcome to attend meetings as observers. Please contact the office if you wish to come along. We usually meet in the music room but if we do have a lot of observers we need to move next door to the hall. Meetings start at 3:15. We are unable to provide child care but most parents help each other out by taking turns to look after each others kids so they can attend.
The School Association Fundrasing Committee worked very hard in putting together many wonderful Mothers Day gifts. Thank you to all our amazing helpers who have given up their own time to purchase, sort and wrap our beautiful range of gifts. Students will be given the opportunity to purchase a gift from the Mothers Day Stall at school.
Kindergarten - Wednesday.
Prep - 6 on Thursday.
Friday students can purchase an extra gift if they wish to do so.
We wish all Mothers and those in mothering roles a very Happy Mothers Day.

Breakfast Program
Our school breakfast club has started off strong for term 2. Thanks to the generous donations from local shops and organsiations, our students get to enjoy cups of warm milo, fresh fruit , yummy toast and the occasional treat of yoghurt and pikelets. Our breakfast club operates by volunteers of school staff and are looking for parent volunteers.
KR Exploring Friendship
Kinder Rogowski have been exploring what makes a good friend and how we show our friends we care. After reading The Rainbow Fish we all made our own collage of the fish, carefully placing each individual scale. Our finished pictures represent kindness, sharing and friendship.
