Jack Jumpers Basketball Clinic
From the Principal
The first 6 weeks of the school year have flown by and it has been a fantastic start. I have enjoyed getting to know the community (students, family, and friends) and it was especially great to see students showing off their learning during our open afternoons over the past two weeks. If parents or community members are interested in joining our school association committee I would encourage you to do so as this is a good opportunity to provide voice on the direction of the school as well as undertaking activities like fundraising.
As well as some great learning opportunities within our classrooms we have been looking at other enrichment activities that help engage our students. Over the past few weeks we have had Cricket Tasmania running a series of clinics and Black Square Chess offering a ‘learn to play’ session as well as an invitational tournament.
This week has also seen NAPLAN being run across Australian Schools for years 3,5,7 and 9. NAPLAN provides a point in time assessment of where students are at in their learning however this is only part of the picture and it is the ongoing checking in of where students are at on a daily basis that provides much more useful information for our teachers to improve student outcomes.
One of our major priorities this year is to improve reading and all our staff are working collaboratively to ensure positive outcomes for students. Parents and families can assist with this by supporting students in the home reading program, please discuss with your child’s teacher if you need more information.
Finally, in the coming weeks our School Lunch Program starts, running on alternative Mondays (3-6 one week, K-2 the next) it is exciting to be part of this pilot program and I am looking forward to sitting down with the students and trying some different foods. All specific information around this program has been provided to families previously.

Cricket Program
Students have been enjoying their Thursday lunch cricket sessions. It was great to see all the different colour t-shirts and hats today, representing their favourite teams!
School Association
The Fairview Primary School Association is made up of parents, staff, and community members who work together to achieve shared outcomes for learners attending our school and for the benefit of the whole school community.
ALL parents/caregivers of Fairview Primary School are automatically members, but we need a certain number of Parents, Staff and Community Members to form the Committee before we can set up the Office Bearers.
We currently have positions available for 2 parents to join the committee.
Please fill in the Nomination form below with your name and ask 2 other Fairview parents sign it.
Nominations must be in by 3pm on Friday 17th March. We need this extra time before the first meeting so a ballot may be held if there are more nominations received than positions.
If we cannot form a committee, the School Association cannot exist.
The Committee and members meet at least once per term from 3:15pm, with upcoming dates advertised through the SZapp and Facebook.
Easter Raffle
The School Association are having an Easter Raffle. Donations from local businesses are welcome. Raffle books are available for collection from the office and tickets are $1 each. The prizes are assorted Easter Baskets.
The raffle will be drawn on Monday 3rd April.
