Newsletter - 19 December 2022
From the Principal
Hello Families,
Well, here we are at the end of another busy year at Fairview Primary and another important year in your child’s learning journey. Classes are busy preparing for the end of term assemblies tomorrow and our Grade 6 students are excited but also nervous about finishing primary school and all the changes that lie ahead.
This is my final newsletter for the year and as Acting Principal of Fairview Primary. I will not be continuing in the Principal role in 2023. David Webster, currently Acting Principal at Springfield Gardens Primary, will be Acting Principal here for Term 1 2023.
Farewell to Staff: We are farewelling many teaching staff this year. Jimmy Ackerley, Hannah Blackley, Giani Hremevuic, Cameron Lester, Jess Rainbow, Lauri Wallner, Stu Warren and Anne Wilson are leaving on various adventures, either at other schools or in other places. Jess Wishart is going on maternity leave and is expecting her first baby in February 2023. Thank you to these teachers for their dedication and care to Fairview students. We wish you all the best for 2023 and beyond.
We are also farewelling two of our Teacher Assistants, Kylie Jones and Maree Madden, as well as our School Nurse, Beck Roscoe. Thank you for your support of our students.
With farewells also come welcomes and 2023 will see new staff join the Fairview leadership team. Malcolm McArthur will take on an Assistant Principal role and Anne-Marie Reschke will be Fairview’s Quality Teaching Coach. Caitlin Hamilton will be returning to Fairview as AST next year.
We welcome new teachers Nigel Bradshaw (Gr.5/6), Issy Fitzsimons-Reily (Gr.5/6) and Liz Rogowski (K) to Fairview. Fairview will also have a Teacher Intern in 2023; Frances Seen will be working with Jen Bardelmeyer in the Grade 5/6 classroom.
Thank you to all the Fairview community for your support of our school and your care for your children. I have enjoyed my time at Fairview very much and I am sorry to be leaving.
I wish everyone a wonderful Christmas and New Year with friends and family and a relaxing holiday break.
Best wishes,
Michelle Waldock

School Lunch Pilot Program
Fairview Primary School has been selected to join 29 other schools Tasmanian wide to participate in the School Lunch Pilot Program.
This program will commence from Week 6 in Term 1 on Mondays and will focus on feeding participating students a healthy hot lunch in their classrooms.
There will be more information to come around the program in early term 1, including a form which will need to be completed by parents for their student to participate in the program.
For now, the program is elective and one meal a week will be offered. At present this program can’t accommodate students with dietary requirements or restrictions.
For the program to be as successful as possible, we will be needing parent help with the preparation and cooking of the food.
If you can spare a few hours on the occasional Monday, please contact the School Business Manager Chloe on 6261 7999. A working with vulnerable people card will be required, but the school will be able to pay for this on your behalf.
