Newsletter - 21 September 2022
From the Principal
Hello Families
Welcome to our last newsletter for Term 3. It is always great to see families attending events at school, and this week Fairview welcomed many families to our STAR Assembly. We celebrated those students who have consistently shown Fairview’s STAR expectations – Safety, Together, Achievement and Respect. There will be more STAR assemblies next term and I encourage families to attend to celebrate their child’s achievements.
Scooters/Bikes at School: Many of our students ride to school on their bikes or scooters. A reminder to all students and families that once students enter the school grounds, bikes/scooters must be walked to our bike locker near the School Office. This ensures the safety of all students and their families, particularly at busy drop off and pick up times.
School Satisfaction Survey: Information about how families can participate in this important survey is coming home with students today and is also on our social media platforms. This survey provides valuable feedback to Fairview staff and the Department of Education about what the school is doing well and what needs to improve. Participation is voluntary.
AEU Stop Work Action: This action is scheduled for Wednesday 28th September. More information for families is being sent home today and is also on all social media platforms. The canteen will not be open for orders on this day. If you have any queries or concerns about the Stop Work Action, please contact me via the School Office.
As always, please do not hesitate to contact me with any concerns, questions or ideas to share.
Best wishes,
Michelle Waldock
Acting Principal
New changes to Covid-19 isolation
Public Health has recently changed the mandatory COVID-19 isolation period from seven days to five days.
This means COVID-19 cases can leave isolation, provided they:
- are no longer displaying symptoms on Day 5 of their isolation period, and
- have had no fever for 24 hours prior to Day 5.
People that leave isolation on or after Day 5 must wear a face mask in all settings for Days 5, 6 and 7 – even if they are not displaying symptoms. People are strongly recommended to wear a face mask indoors on Days 8, 9 and 10.
Students under the age of 12 and all primary school students are not required to wear face masks when leaving isolation.
To read more about this change, please visit the Tasmanian Government Coronavirus website.
For any COVID-19 enquiries, please contact the Tasmanian Public Health Hotline on 1800 671 738, or Department of Education COVID-19 Support Hotline at COVID19support@education.tas.gov.au or on 1800 816 057.

Public Holiday Thursday 22 September
A reminder that tomorrow is a Public Holiday for a National Day of Mourning.
Buddy Classes
As part of a Positive Behaviour Support approach, we have incorporated buddy classes again, these will continue for the rest of the Year.
We have found that buddy classes have promoted a sense of community and belonging in our school. They have proven to increase positive social interactions and appropriate play among children in the classroom and outside.
Below are some images of our buddy classes catching up for some learning activities and some fun.
1/2 Rush - Snack & Paint
1-2 Rush had a lovely afternoon sipping on apple juice and snacking on fruit while painting these fun birds after receiving 3000 points on Dojo.
