From The Principal
Hello Families
As the days get longer, the cold gets stronger! We have had some very frosty starts to the days over the past two weeks. Thank you to those parents who make sure their child is well prepared for the cold weather – there have been plenty of warm coats and hats on display in the mornings as students arrive at school.
Parking: Another reminder to families that our parking arrangements in the North Crescent carpark have changed and that all signs and markings must be obeyed. This is a legal requirement to ensure the safety of all our students and their families. If a car is seen to be parked in the wrong place, the driver may be asked to move their vehicle to another parking place. Thank you to all our families who have supported the changes to parking arrangements at the beginning and end of the school day.
Vapes: There have been issues this week with older students bringing vapes to school and showing them to other students. Vapes are not permitted at school at any time. Tasmania passed new laws on 29 November 2017 that treat e-cigarette products, i.e. vapes, similarly to tobacco products. These laws also prohibit the selling of e-cigarette products to children under the age of 18. Any student found with a vape in their possession will be immediately suspended from school.
FAST Program: The first session of this program was held on Wednesday 10th August and was very successful. There are still places available for any families who wish to be part of the program. Please contact the office for more information.
As always, please do not hesitate to contact me with any concerns, questions or ideas to share.
Best wishes,
Michelle Waldock
Acting Principal
